Micro-TESE, or microsurgical testicular sperm extraction, is a specialised procedure used to search for sperm directly within testicular tissue. It is commonly considered for selected men with non-obstructive azoospermia, where sperm are not seen in the ejaculate because sperm production is severely reduced.

How Does It Work?

The procedure is performed by a specialist under appropriate anaesthesia. Using operating magnification, the surgeon carefully examines areas of testicular tissue that are more likely to contain sperm. Any sperm found are assessed by the embryology team and may be used for ICSI or frozen for future treatment.

Before the Procedure
